Hi! I am a new member. My son is 16 and has just been diagnosed with Aspergers. He has been so badly bullied at school that he is suffering from depression and is refusing to return. I could do with some advise on dealing with home schooling and the local education authority and if anyone else has asperger experience I would love to hear from you. It seems that Asperger kids are always bullied, have other people found that this is the case? Any suggestions on how to deal with it?
Also we are just trying to deal with the diagnosis which we only received a couple of days ago. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Hi EM2006,

Sorry for the delay in replying.

I really feel for you. It is very hard when you have a child with Aspergers, and the authorities seem reluctant to help.

Is your son receiving any kind of special educational needs teaching, or support. He should be, and I recommend you contact the education authorities with a view to getting a statement of special educational needs for him.

Don't be fobbed off, stand up to them.

For the immediate future, we too had the same problem, and you must get the support of the school.

If you want a more detailed chat, please mail me.
